30 Day Idol Challenge, Day 01 – My (Almost) Favorite Idol
I really want to get into the habit of writing here every day, because it’s fun, and I need to force myself to do something not work related. But I lack creativity at the moment, and all my own ideas turn out bigger than what I can manage. So I’m outsourcing my blog’s schedule to the 30 Day Idol Challenge list found in Happy Disco. So, let’s start…
Well, unfortunately, there’s a problem right in the first day. I’m supposed to write about my first idol. Ok, that’s easy enough, I do that all the time. In fact, I feel like half the posts here are nothing more than an excuse for me to write again about Erepyon. I find a way to sneak her in the subject of every other post here. In any case, you can read about that in the full Top 10 Idols I wrote ages ago. The next logic step would be to write about my second favorite idol, but again, I’ve already done a whole post on how great Acchan is. What am I to do then?
Yeah, you guessed it, I’m writing about the third place.
Takahashi Minami
I remember once talking to Henkka about AKB’s greatness (well, these are my words; he wasn’t as enlightened (yet?)) and he asked who was my oshimen. I didn’t have one at the time. Somehow the question got changed to who I would marry, which was a lot easier. Takamina. Oh, and I think he commented something about she being somewhat average looking compared to others in the group, to which I agreed. Does anyone have a spare time machine I can borrow to punch myself back then?
The best thing about her is that she is constant. She looks and acts the same as she did back when I got into AKB. She seems the least likely to ever get into a scandal. In fact, the worst I think she could do would be cut her hair, a day on which the world might as well end. But no, her hair is safe. Takamina is safe.
Sure, aside from that, there’s the fact she is a talented singer, she is funny (even though her funny moments are about other members’ teasing her for being unfunny), and she’s The Boss. Also, she’s easily fooled and always the first to cry, which demonstrate honesty and sensibility. And she’s one of the few leaders I think actually act like a leader – together with Nakazawa Yuuko, Yossie and Akimoto Sayaka. I wonder if anyone translated her post about the recent scandal? Read that if you can, it’s beautiful. Huge heart for other members.
Best Takamina Moment – Nemousu TV Season 04 Episode 01
The best Takamina moment comes in the video above, starting at 03:40. At the end of Nemousu TV Season 03, the show’s comedian host was changed, and to introduce the newcomer, the first episode of Season 04 has him “interviewing” each one of a selection of members. Of course, the whole thing was arranged in a way that would make Taka-san, of Utaban Yasuda-bashing fame, proud, including even Miichan acting as a double agent and pointing out other member’s weak points to the enemy. And Takamina is just SO CUTE at the end when she doesn’t know how to react to the crazy superior telling her to hit him.
There’s also the dokkiri in AKBINGO! 100519, when Takamina was SO CUTE when she didn’t know how to react to Yuuko betraying and accusing her of something she didn’t do… but I can’t find a video of that. The one I had (and linked to in my Top 10 post) was deleted.
I can’t check that video since I’m at work and my boss would cry.. so I’ll have to check it out later. Takamina, man.. honestly, I’ve never liked her. Almost to the point of dislike. She was really annoying to me for nearly a year. However, I couldn’t see AKB without her and I did accept her as an intergral part to the group.
With that said, recently my feelings have been completely changing towards her. Not only am I finding her cute as all hell (something that I’d NEVER call her..), but I’m admiring all of her qualities. You pretty much touched all of those qualities in this post. Her leadership is strong.. she’s a true leader and I can’t really imagine anyone in her place.
Her terrible jokes, height and reactions have completely broken my shell. She’s adorable and now I look forward to seeing her. Just thinking about her now is makin me laugh. I doubt she’ll ever make my top 10 list… but she’d fall into a list of members who are irreplaceable.

Hum, I don’t have the courage to read any idol blogs at work. In fact, I don’t read anything not tech-related on the network there, and read my Japan-related RSS feeds on my Android. All videos are blocked though, so nothing I could do there. Well, at least nothing I would do. Hope you’ve checked the video, she’s great.
