30 Day Idol Challenge, Day 04–I Am a Girl (!) And The Girl Is a Boy (?)…

February 6, 2012

Continuing from yesterday’s topic, today’s challenge is “If this Idol were a boy, who would be your boyfriend?”.

Belive me, I’ve tried. I’ve thought long and hard about this question, but my brain refuses to think correctly through all the gender changes necessary to answer this. So, first I have to think I’m a woman. Hard enough, as I usually find those uncomprehensible. But then, I have also to imagine every idol I know being a man. And figure out who I am attracted to. This is not working, and I’m afraid if I keep going I’ll take the easy way out, and go with one of the many common answers to such a question, like Yossie or Sae. I’m not happy with that.

No, let’s do things differently. I’ll change the question just enough so I don’t lose the spirit of it, but can give a more interesting answer. Today’s challenge will be: “If I were a girl, who would be my boyfriend?”. And the candidates will be all male to begin with. Whoa, now the question is too easy. The great winner is…

Henkka oh no it must be an idol…

Nagase Tomoya

Well, to tell the truth, I don’t see him much as an idol. Could as well have stayed with Henkka. But I guess he’s still in Johnnys… Eligible.

I’m not a big Johnnys fan. They’re everywhere, so it turns out I’ve been a casual stalker of some of them through doramas and such. The only groups I’ve actually listened to are Arashi (lots), KAT-TUN (next to nothing), and TOKIO (somewhere in the middle). SMAP doesn’t count, I can barely remember any good song from them (Sekai ni Hitotsu dake no Hana is the single competitor to Love Machine in the overdone cathegory). I like SMAP’s TV shows and doramas though.

But anyway, Nagase Tomoya. Not my favorite actor – that’d be Abe Hiroshi – but very close (as in, second). As boyfriend material, however, he wins. He can be the coolest or the funniest man alive, depending on the role he is acting; and as himself, he’s both. He’s the kind of guy who will do any job you throw his way better than you, and have fun in the process. It always comes to mind every time I see him in some TV show – Japanese TV shows have the habit of making their guests do ridiculous stuff, making them a great test to this ability to take jokes well and excel even within the crazy rules of Japanese games. In other words, he doesn’t take himself too seriously. Hell, even when TOKIO had to stay on the background of an enka singer in Kouhaku, he was great cheering for the old lady. Or the old guy, who cares, I was looking at Nagase. This is a man who could make wotagei cool. AkiP should give him a call.

On a side note, I love Yamapi. I still haven’t seen his dorama with Acchan, because I don’t want to hate him. I still haven’t decided if he is a decent actor, but I usually like his characters anyway. I’d like to see him in more silly characters though, I think he might just have the same awesome range from silly to awesome cool that Nagase does if given the chance. He seems stuck on the cool side right now, with the exception of his character in Nobuta wo Produce. Who by the way was the best character in Nobuta.

You’re making me blush you Brazilian sex beast.
In any case, Nagase Tomoya is such a hottie. I don’t feel bad about losing to him.

Henkka! What an honor! I’ve been wondering how I could get you to leave a comment you lazy bastard. I’m always glad to see that there’s always at least a Finnish IP getting to my latest posts even if IntlWota doesn’t cover them, but you could speak up sometimes…

Although I know these challenge posts aren’t really the kind of thing that would get you commenting. I’m surprised you even read them actually… but must say I’d lost some hope when you didn’t show up in the No Dating Rule post.

Indeed, I’m sure we’ve talked before on the greatness of Nagase Tomoya, so I’ll leave it at that.

Don’t take it personally — I’m really just really really lazy with comments and honestly, I often just don’t have much to say (also evident from the lack of posts on my own site lately!). I don’t follow many blogs anymore these days, but I do try to read all of your stuff. If it’s worth anything, I did think your No Dating posts were great and am still looking forward to more. Really good reading and I commend you for the effort for sure. *thumbs up*

PS. That pic in the sidebar dedicated to me always makes me thirsty. Reminds me of the important things in life.

Hey man, no need to flatter me too much. When I said “these posts aren’t the kind of thing that would get you commenting”, all I meant was that, well, they’re not the kind of (etc.). You never said much about the idols themselves, and you probably won’t start in my comments section. But who knows, you might actually like the posts when you read them. I think they’re average, but they achieve their purpose (which I’ll write about when they’re over).

Just curious, are you still following H!P?

      • February 10, 2012 6:48 pm

Yep, I still do follow H!P. As for AKB (though you didn’t ask), I gave up on the music side of things with them, but I’m very much enjoying AKBINGO. Great stuff! Actually, I dare say I probably find it even more entertaining than H!M. They come up with some genuinely funny corners.

      • February 10, 2012 6:55 pm

Really? Maybe I should rush my “Guide to AKB TV Shows” then…

As for AKBINGO! vs Hello! Morning, I think the shorter duration works as an advantage for AKBINGO… I’d see both shows as equivalent if H!M only had its usual 20-min “long segment” part, and got rid of all the 5-minutes MiniMoni and news and comedy and weird stories with them dressed as animals… some of those corners were great, but when it was bad, it was really bad and went on for weeks and weeks… There’s nothing like that in AKBINGO!

That’s a good choice~*. I’m thinking Tackey for sure but then there’s Takenouchi Yutaka too old nah that means experience and is used to think Oguri Shun but i saw him in something recently and now i’m not so sure. There are others too…probably too many to mention as it should just be one? =P And don’t even get me started on the girl~girl thing if i went hypothetical too ^ ^.

Feel free to start whenever you like. But all MB followers already know the answer is Yuko, so I guess there’s no real need to comment.
